WordPress Blog & Logo Design
The Conflicted Womanist was created to bring the experiences of Black and Brown women to the forefront so they can heal and show up authentically in their everyday lives, relationships, and community. The blog needed a complete brand makeover. There was no official logo, and the website lacked consistency. As a safe space for black & brown women, the blog needed a brand that stood out from the crowd and reflected their distinct personality and exceptional knowledge.
I worked collaboratively with Chinyere (the face behind The Conflicted Womanist) to develop a new brand strategy. She provided images and content for the brand, and I provided the rest. The basic components of the logo are built from typography. Overall it is simple, clean, and balanced – which is everything she envisioned for the blog. A huge part of developing this brand was the color choice. The colors help the viewers visually embody a warm and safe haven to read and expand personal/collective knowledge.
The brand really comes together beautifully with the website, which perfectly reflects the personality and uniqueness. With small pops of color and beautifully placed script typography, the website really enhances the users’ experience. The logo and website both bring attention to the blog’s mission and help keep the viewers engaged.
